"I think he thinks that this issue will not look good for him. A body discovered and lost on his watch."
Trevor is a young man working in cybersecurity, hoping to make a name for himself in the espionage and law enforcement industry. Taking an interest in a man he meets at a local dog park, his new flame Christopher expresses worry that something illegal is happening at the museum where he works. Shortly thereafter, Christopher turns up dead. The investigation into his death puts Trevor on a mission that sends him to Quantico for FBI training and brings the DEA, FBI, and local police together on a hunt for a mysterious illegal drug operation that Christopher must have stumbled across. With the clock ticking and evidence disappearing by the day, this group of law enforcement officials has to set up a sting that will lead the kingpin behind this smuggling ring out of hiding and into prison.
Like any good mystery, the whodunit elements of this book hook the reader immediately with its grizzly details. But even as the plot thickens and develops, the story is ultimately a vessel for introducing and familiarizing the readers with a cast of strong characters, many of whom are likely to appear in further adventures beyond this one. The shady pasts and differing perspectives of each of the principal players allow them to look at a situation differently, providing the story with the ability to switch to any character's voice with relative ease. That being said, the mystery and the heart of this thriller tangles at just the right pace, feeding the audience with enough clues to satisfy while holding its most powerful revelations until the last, most satisfying moment. Readers will be hooked and ready for the next adventure featuring Trevor and his friend Jason.
Lawrence A. Deiman, a Minnesota native who joined the Air Force after his high school graduation and earned several college degrees before embarking on a career in the information technology industry and moving to the Phoenix area, where he lives with Abigail, his beautiful, blue-eyed, pure white Siberian Husky, has completed his new book "Canyon Springs Wash Murders: Continuing Adventures of Trevor and Jason": a gripping and potent novel that keeps the pages turning until the dramatic conclusion.
This story begins with Jason's former partner sending a hit squad out after Trevor and Jason. After tricking him into thinking they are dead, Jason must follow Trevor to Texas to work an undercover case with him. Once they are there, they discover murder, prostitution, human trafficking, illegal gambling, and contraband. As they dig into a crime family's hold on a small town in northern Texas, they find that they must join them in order to eradicate them from this town. While in Texas, Jason discovers that since they are allegedly dead, his former partner decides to come after his bride instead by sending a female hit person after her, thinking it would be less conspicuous. Now Jason must decide what to do in order to keep his bride safe and still be dead to his former partner.
As they work to rid this crime family from this town, another case that one of Trevor's teammates worked two years ago interrupts what they are doing in the worst way. After which they find they are not sure they want to continue working this case. Trevor becomes the hero of the day when he saves the lives of several children while at the same time closing down one leg of this crime family's operation. From a brilliant plan of Trevor's comes the making of a great operation that gives this town back to the mayor and his people. Accolades are cut short when Trevor and Jason are called home to deal with a personal issue that turns this story's ending into the need for tissues.
